Eric Schmdt vient de confirmer l’intérêt que porte sa société au marché de la publicité mobile dont le chiffre d’affaire sera, selon lui, de plus d’un milliard de dollars d’ici 2012.

Le président de Google, Eric Schmidt, saluait à Davos le concept de publicité localisée, qui permettrait par exemple à une chaîne de restaurants de signaler aux possesseurs de mobiles qu’ils passent à proximité d’un point de vente.

Eric Schmidt, le tonitruant CEO de Google, a profité du Forum mondial Economique de Davos, en Suisse, pour confirmer, si certains en doutaient encore, que sa société était extrêmement intéressée par le marché de la publicité mobile.

Le numéro un du célèbre moteur de recherche a ainsi précisé qu’il prévoyait que la publicité mobile exploitant les services de géolocalisation sera une révolution très importante dans laquelle sa société devra faire figure de pionnière. Google ne se contentera donc pas de placer de simples publicités sur votre mobile, celles-ci devraient être ciblées selon votre localisation et permettraient, par exemple, de conseiller aux utilisateurs une liste des restaurants les plus proches.

Mr Schmidt a enfin commenté les chiffres d’une récente étude menée par Forrester Search et selon laquelle le chiffre d’affaires de la publicité mobile devrait représenter un peu moins d’un milliard de dollars en 2012, jugeant ce chiffre largement sous-estimé. Ainsi, selon le CEO, cette étude ne prendrait pas en compte le fait que le Web mobile a atteint un point de non-retour en devenant de plus en plus populaire.

Pour rappel, la firme de Mountain View a récemment multiplié les annonces et investissements dans le secteur du mobile avec, entre autres, le développement de la plate-forme Android ou l’acquisition des fréquences 700 Mhz aux Etats-Unis.

This morning people asked me, what is the cheapest hardware solution available that includes MS Windows Mobile and GPS? The question happens to be in connection with my previous post for GPS Ukraine solution.

Quick search showed that it must be Smartphone without integrated GPS with Bluetooth and external GPS receiver. I have found HTC - S310 for 175 EUR and free shipping on Amazon and Holux M1000 for 54,90 EUR on LDLC That gives us a pretty functional ensemble for 175+54,90+99=328,90 EUR.

I have just decide to became eBay merchant use eBay to sell things . As a matter of fact i don’t yet play in lottery however. This incredible move is due to my today’s activity of cleaning of my box in the basement of my apartment building in Paris.

I decided to put on sell the snow chains that i acquired 2 years ago in Nice. At this time i used to go skiing on the heights of Southern Alps, to the ski station called Isola 2000. I bought this chains, but i have made a mistake choosing the size based on the standard size of tires of my MR2. In fact i use tires that are much bigger. So this is still a new unused object and I propose it for the half of price that it costs at this time at the site of Norauto.

The sad thing about the sale it’s the fact that i was unable to find out the way to use Buy Now option. eBay seems to have a bug in the interface, or my browser is not compatible. Long live Ajax, indeed…

This weekend i have been reading the book that my boss suggested as interesting.

In fact i am the big amateur of the memoires, and i think that this genre of literature is definitely useful. It’s true however that the value of the book depends greatly on the personality of the author.

In our case the author is pretty well knowned politician, the last president of the USSR , Mikhail Sergeevitch Gorbachev ( or Gorbachov in order to be closer with the Russian pronunciation of his name)

The book you can find it on amazon . In case you understand Russian, the book is freely available (Vol. 1, Vol. 2) on the site of Gorbatchev Fundation.

There are a lot of content that could be criticized, but as whole i have found this work worth reading.

You must subscribe the partnership with RedHat in order to get this vmware appliance. I would recommend it. The appliance is very well built and saves a lot of time for installation.

Until recently there were a small number of quite cumbersome GPS Navigation solutions for standard handheld devices that worked in Ukraine developed by local companies. From the known players we have to mention only Garmin’s awkward Que program that requires proprietary GPS receiver. Some Tom Tom beta maps still are completely inappropriate for navigation.

Today i walked near the Surcouf store av. Domesnil. I entered some small Asian electronics boutique, and there i saw this pretty passable tiny video player.

At first i was attracted just by creative design coming from northern Asia (South Corea actually). But at the end, this MP4 player seems to be the very capable device. I think we are close to the sad days for Apple. With all that noise about poor performance of the latest iPod batteries i am wondering how are they supposed to do better then this masterpiece of gadget ?
